EAGxVirtual 2024

November 15, 2024 - November 17, 2024

EAGxVirtual 2024

Applications close Thursday, November 14. Apply now!

EAGxVirtual 2024 will take place November 15-17 online. The conference will focus on a diverse range of cause areas, local community building, and knowledge sharing. It will offer networking, workshops, presentations, and small group gatherings for around 1000 attendees dedicated to addressing some of the world’s greatest challenges.

Why attend?

EAG(x) events have a track record of fostering new connections in the effective altruism community. Attendees receive the necessary information or encouragement to apply for a job, an internship, or a program that supports their further development.

  • Connect: Meet like-minded people passionate about making a positive impact.
  • Learn: Engage with groundbreaking ideas through talks and workshops.
  • Grow: Map out your professional path, identify next steps, and develop your application skills.
  • Find work: Introduce yourself to impactful organizations looking for new hires.

EAGxVirtual is particularly impactful for connecting with our diverse community, many of whom have not been able to attend in-person events. This will probably be the most accessible EA conference, and we encourage anyone who has a genuine interest to apply!

Application details

How does the application process work?

  • Apply to the conference (~5-15 minutes) – Fill in this application form. This form collects some basic details, and asks about your engagement with effective altruism, and if you’d be willing to volunteer.
  • Register for the conference (~5 minutes) – After being accepted, you’ll receive an email with a link to register and confirm your place at the conference. At this stage you’ll be asked to provide additional logistic details, and have the option of donating to Effective Ventures UK (funders for EAGxVirtual). Virtual events are much less expensive than in-person events, but still require staff and technical fees. We estimate the cost per attendee to be ~£15 ($20), and suggest this as our standard donation. All donations are non-refundable.

Feel free to contact virtual@eaglobalx.org for any questions. If you want to attend but are unsure about whether to apply, please just apply anyway!

Schedule

More detailed information on the agenda, speakers, and content will be available closer to the conference via Swapcard and updates to this webpage.

If you would like to suggest yourself or someone else as a speaker or have an idea for a workshop for the event, please use this form. Alternatively, you may reach out to our team via virtual@eaglobalx.org.

Should you apply?

We welcome everyone who has a genuine interest in learning more or connecting, including those who are new to effective altruism. Admissions will not be based on prior EA engagement or EA background knowledge. As always, when unsure, please apply.

If you cannot come for all three days, please be aware that it is also possible — and still very valuable — to attend the conference for one day!

EAGxVirtual is free.

Should I prepare for the conference?

While it’s not mandatory, you can get more value out of the conference by preparing in advance! If you are completely new to effective altruism, we recommend checking out one of the following resources:
